WOMEN IN S.T.E.M.

WHAT WE DO

The Robocats debuted their first all-girls robotics team, FTC 13227: The Mechanicats during the 2017-2018 season. Despite being a rookie team, they were presented awards at all the tournaments they attended, and advanced to Regionals. The Mechanicats went to local feeder pattern schools and encouraged and helped young girls to realize their capabilities in a world of STEM. In the Spring of 2018, the Mechanicats attended a Dallas chapter of the Women in Technology Coalition forum where  they met and connected with amazing women of STEM. In the Fall of 2018, the team will start a chapter of Society of Women Engineers (SWENext) at their high school.

WHY WE DO IT

The main reason why an all-girls team was created was to inspire girls. Having an all-girls team empowers them to become bold leaders and create a culture of achievement. The female driven robotics team creates high levels of self-confidence and opens young girl's eyes to a broader range of interests, with a focus on confidence, compassion, and resilience.
